THE COLLABORATION
The Hamlet Edition is a limited wearable art collaboration created by HamletScenen, Sittingsuits and artist Birgitte Krüger to mark 209 years of Hamlet at Kronborg Castle. It brings the world’s oldest continuous Hamlet tradition into a contemporary, functional form.
Danish actress Ghita Nørby stands at the centre of the launch. Her connection to theatre and cultural heritage reflects the idea behind the edition: history remains alive when it is carried forward, interpreted and shared with new generations.
THE ARTIST
Birgitte Krüger is a Danish visual artist with a studio and gallery inside Kronborg Castle. Her figurative paintings often capture people in reflective moments, combining everyday observation with emotional depth.
Working within the historic setting that shaped the Hamlet tradition connects the artwork directly to place. Her contribution gives the edition a contemporary visual voice rooted in the castle’s living cultural history.
THE ARTWORK
The edition is based on an original acrylic painting by Birgitte Krüger, created at Kronborg Castle. The image moves from canvas to textile, carrying references to theatre, place and continuity across the full Sittingsuit surface.
The Hamlet Edition was produced as a limited edition of 100 pieces.
